Peter McCauley Sr., MD

Dr. McCauley is a nationally recognized, Certified Physician Executive with a thirty-year track record of profitable, inclusive health care leadership. He has national responsibility for Cigna Healthcare’s over 700 value-based relationships which incentivize hospitals & physicians for quality improvements and cost reduction. As a servant leader, Dr. McCauley has created a culture of innovative empowerment resulting in Cigna's value-based relationships generating over $600M in total medical cost savings for Cigna clients over the past ten years. Client savings drive client retention which translates into earnings per customer bottom line contributions.

As an extraordinary communicator, he has served Cigna in multiple leadership roles with increasing responsibility during the past thirteen years. Expertise includes Value Based Care Physician Payment Models and addressing health disparities. Recognized by Becker’s healthcare communications as one of the nation’s Top Black Healthcare Leaders to know in 2022 and 2023, Dr. McCauley regularly provides direct support to the CEO as the Clinical Subject Matter Expert in high profile external meetings with health insurance brokers, physician groups, hospital systems, and large national clients such as Amazon & PepsiCo.

Based on his experience as a corporate leader, talent developer, and practicing pediatrician, he is uniquely qualified to guide strategic discussions leading to measurable actions for environmental and social governance at the corporate board level. Listed by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of 2022’s Notable Black Executive Leaders for his contributions to the community, Dr. McCauley currently serves on the recently appointed Advisory Council of FocalPoint Chicago (https://focalpointchicago.org/) which is a strategic initiative to meet the educational, employment, housing and health care needs of the residents of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Howard University and a medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.
